The Central Government may announce an increase in DA for 50 lakh Central Government Employees and 61 lakh pensioners in February 2021 itself. This will increase the salaries of the employees. The Labor Department has announced the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI), which is expected to increase DA among employees.




New Delhi. The central government can soon give great good news to 50 lakh employees and 61 lakh pensioners. In fact, the announcement of dearness allowance (DA) to central employees is a long wait. This wait may end this month i.e. in February 2021. The central government may announce a 4 per cent hike in DA this month. This will directly increase the salaries of central employees. In fact, the Department of Labor has also announced the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). This has given hope to the central employees that they can get increased DA. Explain that AICPI determines the rate of DA.




Travel allowance will also be increased by 4 per cent

On the basis of AICPI, it is being said that the government can increase the DA by 4 per cent. This will directly benefit the central employees and pensioners. According to the 7th Pay Commission, if the dearness allowance of central employees increases by 4 per cent, then their travel allowance (TA) will also increase by 4 per cent. However, Central employees will not be given DA from 1st July 2020 to 1st January 2021. Explain that the Center had stopped DA in April 2020 due to the Korana crisis. According to the announcement of the Center, till June 2021, the central employees will not get DA.

After the increase, the inflation allowance will be 21 per cent

Central employees are not currently being paid DA and Dearness Relief (DR). Explain that at present the dearness allowance of central employees is 17 per cent. After a 4 per cent increase in DA, the DA will go up to 21 per cent and the travel allowance will also go up by 4 per cent. This will lead to a bumper increase in the salaries of the employees and the pensions of the pensioners. The Center periodically revises the DA. DA is calculated on the basis of basic salary. This allowance is given to the central employees to help them bear their expenses keeping in view the inflation. It is announced twice a year in January and July. It is associated with HRA.
