Introducing the budget on February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that 1 crore new connections would be provided free of cost under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana. According to the details received, the next phase of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has been prepared. It is believed that the announcement will be implemented this month.




Under the Ujjawala scheme, free cooking gas connections are distributed to families below the poverty line. According to a report, 8.3 crore LPG connections have been distributed under the scheme till January 31, 2021. Under the budget announcement, in the current financial year, new gas connections will be distributed in those states and areas where consumption is low. The list of beneficiaries of the scheme celebrated for the government is also important as considering this as the basis, the government provides various schemes and benefits to the needy. In Corona Lockdown, the government distributed three gas cylinders free of cost to each beneficiary of the scheme under the Prime Minister's Poor Welfare Package.










Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana was launched on May 1, 2016. Let me tell you that when you take LPG connection under Ujjawala scheme, the total cost with stove is Rs. 3,200. To avail the Ujjawala scheme, the applicant must be above 18 years of age. The applicant BPL card holder must be a rural resident. To avail the subsidy amount, the woman applicant should have a savings bank account in any nationalized bank across the country. The applicant family should not already have an LPG connection at home.
