In most cases, coronavirus infection is caused by a delta variant of the corona virus. However, only 4.5 per cent of such cases require hospitalization and the mortality rate is as low as 0.5 per cent, according to an ICMR survey.
A new study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has found that infection after vaccination is called 'breakthrough infection'. This is the largest and first nationwide survey of corona cases in India after the 'breakthrough infection'. Analysis of the survey found that even after vaccination, if a person is infected with corona, he or she is less likely to be hospitalized and is less likely to die from the infection. The study said the most important strategy would be to increase vaccination campaigns and vaccinate people as early as possible to prevent the third wave of corona. It will also reduce the burden on hospitals in the country.
The study also identified two new variants of SARS-COV-2, Delta 'AY1' and 'AY2'. The samples were taken from 12 states and union territories. The study found that in most of these cases (5.06%) the cause of infection was a delta variant of the corona. The cause of such cases in most parts of India is the delta variant, but the alpha variant of the corona is more prevalent in northern India.
